Fertility services are based at Nottingham University Hospital (QMC) and provide high quality investigations and treatments for both NHS funded and self-funded patients and within a well-established NHS organisation. The department follows the ‘vision and values’ of the wider organisation and NHS as a whole and has strong links to education, research and innovation. You will be seen by an experienced multidisciplinary team of nurses, doctors, scientists and sonographers (ultrasound practitioners), who will guide you through your fertility investigations and treatments. The success rates of fertility treatments here at NUH compare very well with the best units in the UK and in some cases exceed national averages by some considerable margin.
In addition, the service runs its own sperm bank enabling prompt and effective treatments for patients requiring treatment with donor sperm. Using our own “in-house” UK donors means we have complete control over the quality of our donor samples, and this is reflected in our higher than UK average pregnancy/live birth rates.
Importantly, as NUH is an NHS organisation, fertility treatments are provided on a ‘not for profit’ basis. This means that not only does the local health authority or funding body receive value for money but any patient who has to fund their own treatment, does so understanding that the prices will always be competitive and importantly any income generated comes back into the NHS to support and develop services. More importantly, patients will never be offered diagnostic tests which do not provide valuable information nor treatments that are of no proven benefit.
Over the last few years, the fertility services in Nottingham have evolved such that IVF and related treatments are now provided by private providers in Nottingham. If your investigations suggest that IVF is the appropriate treatment for you, we will provide you with all the necessary information for you to make the right choice of local IVF clinic.
