what is fertility massage?
Of course, we all know what massage is and it feels amazing. Massage is a great way to relax and get some you time so we fully endorse indulging in as many as you feel like. But fertility massage is something quite specific: it focuses on that all-important reproductive area.
Our bodies are all different but your treatment might include aligning the reproductive organs, increasing blood flow to the area and helping to balance the digestive and endocrine (the system that regulates those hormones) systems.
There are so many types of fertility massage. Arvigo Mayan abdominal therapy is one of the most common types of fertility massage but a therapist might use chi nei tsang (another form of abdominal massage aimed at detoxifying and energising the whole area), acupressure or myofascial release (which looks to release contracted muscles and improve blood and lymphatic drainage), amongst many others.
what will happen at an appointment?
Your therapist might do a full body treatment or just focus on your abdomen – don’t worry, they’ll let you know exactly what you need to do and how many clothes to take off! These are usually lovely and relaxing – you might even fall asleep! You may need a series of treatments and your therapist might give you some at-home, self-care exercises, too. It’s worth investing the time in this: once you make it part of your routine, it’s easy to fit in.
why is it good for fertility?
Relaxation, relaxation, relaxation! It also results in general improved wellbeing, circulation, lymphatic drainage and hormonal balance. What’s not to like? Talk to your therapist and they’ll advise how they will treat you and where they’ll focus and, as always, look around – not all hands are made the same!
